a lost and found study

i found this oil study a few days ago
it was on top of a storage box in my laundry room
i’m known for putting stuff in a really safe place,
but then forget where that “safe” place is

it has been lost for a few months now
this pieces has always been one of my favorites
i painted it in 1997, back when my concept of the little girl was still very new
as my concepts have revealed and defined themselves over the years,
the application of media has also become more difinitive

i look back at pieces like this and think
“i’ll never be as good as i used to be”

 ”study”
19″ x 17″ (oil on gessoed watercolor paper)

I remember this phase of your work. It’s interesting that the only thing really thay seems to make this a “study” rather than a finished piece is that you didn’t add text to it.

It is gorgeous. We always hold on to the accomplishments of the past, don’t we?

I’ve sent you a mail in April I think, to tell you how I realy like your work and told Daniel North to visit you at your open studio day. Then I went to America. Back from Montana today, I’m happy to see that you’ve got a blog!
I’m gonna enjoy every single post and new paintings! Thank you.
    Elaine.
