did you ever know how much you meant to me?

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

it seems that when i paint, i’m always in a state of reflection
-searching in the past for those kinks that would get me hung up
i’m always fascinated by the way issues come full circle
and in the completion of the full cirlcle, i find wisdom

the concept of “learning from mistakes” is good,
but when we choose to actually apply what we learn to our lives, it’s great
…transformation is powerful

this painting is about looking back
and finding meaning in a moment of reflection

holding the sky open

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

here is the new oil that is finally feeling done
there are some new things happening in this piece
it’s kind of too new to analyze at this point
but like all of my paintings,
it will reveal itself to me in time

“holding the sky open
the sweet sounds…the fluttering
…it’s just a backdrop”

is this my wonderland?

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

this was my last completed oil painting
i finished it right before my april show opened
since then i’ve just been painting in water
i have a sister painting to this piece that has been on my easel
for a few months now
i’m starting to finish it up…maybe i can get it on the blog in a few days

there is something about this one that resonates very deeply with me

“my mind wanders back to a time when thoughts were green
…is this my wonderland”

love is for you

some say that our fluffy mutt is the cutest they’ve ever seen
…i think it’s the ears, maybe it’s the eyes, or possibly just the hair
~whatever it is
this dog stops traffic….on the sidewalk and the road
…on a leash or in the car

here is a picture of “odie” in my studio
odie for blog.jpg

recently i had an open studio
a couple came and fell in love with odie
they were inteseted in commissioning a portrait of her

i’ve done several paintings with cats and the figure
but never felt connected visually to a dog
…until Odessa came along

i had been thinking of how i’d like to start putting her in my paintings
…wasn’t sure how…or when…the time would be right

this commission forced me to take the leap

titled:
“love is for you, and you are love”
