in this series of little studies for a brilliant overlay and a brilliant time past

i am going between 4 different reds that i really love
cadmium red med, cad red light, vermillion, and perylene maroon
i’m working on putting the combination of the four together

to see what the effect they will have on each other
it all started with the painting, falling through your redolence
the vermillion is extremely hard to work with because it is almost neon
i love it though
this study is using cadmium red light as the base color on the stripe

the model for this painting is my precious little niece claire, aka claire bear
she’s really squishy like a marshmallow
my daughter does really cute little illustrations and decided one day to depict claire bear
as a care bear in a marker rendering
in the illustration she made the care bear a light chocolate brown color with a marshmallow as the image on the tummy
she said that her care bear theme was “hot chocolate”
i think my sister put the drawing in claire’s baby book

this painting here reminds me of a photo of a water drop falling in slow motion
so i titled it…one little drop
