interview and envoy article

July 18th, 2010

Heather Kent is a California artist that does great things with pattern and color in her work. She recently did an interview with me and posted it on her blog. It is a casual Q & A format that is unique to the other articles that i’ve been featured in…thank you, Heather!

also…

Envoy is a magazine published by Patrick Madrid.
he is one of my favorite Catholic writers and apologists
I am honored that he chose some of my paintings as illustrations
for a story by Tess Almendarez Lojacono in the most recent issue of Envoy.

profile of neve

July 2nd, 2010

“profile of neve”
12″ x 12″   fresco

i photo documented the development of this painting
for an article in Artist’s Magazine that will feature the step by step progression
something strange happened as i was painting this piece
… i felt an inseparable connection and i am keeping this painting for myself

the last ‘step by step’ painting that i did was for Watercolor Artist
and it was a painting of a 15 year old girl and her dog
after it was published i wished that i would have featured a much more simplistic painting
this is why i decided to paint a basic profile for this step by step
i’m hoping that it will leave the viewer with more insight into my process

because i chose to part from my conceptual realm
and paint my muse from an academic perspective
i felt that the title was simply “profile of neve”
so, by the time this painting was finished, i was emotionally attached
